Matthew is an award-winning accompanist, chamber musician and répétiteur. Recent highlights include several televised performances with Danielle De Niese for the BBC, an appearance with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa on Sky Arts, recitals with Sir Thomas Allen, and Wigmore Hall debut recitals with Sam Furness, Gareth Brynmor John and Keri Fuge.

Matthew has performed at venues such as Wigmore Hall, Kings Place, the Purcell Room, National Concert Hall (Dublin), St Martin-in-the-fields, St John’s Smith Square, the Elgar Room (Royal Albert Hall), the Sage Gateshead. He has appeared at Oxford Lieder Festival, Winchester Festival and the Norfolk and Norwich Festival. He has won numerous awards for piano accompaniment, including the Help Musicians UK prize for accompaniment at the 2014 Kathleen Ferrier Awards.

Matthew has worked as a répétiteur at Glyndebourne since 2012. Highlights include working on Verdi’s Falstaff (2013 Festival) Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier (2014 Festival), the Ravel Double Bill (2015 Festival) and Janáček’s Cunning Little Vixen (2016 Festival).

Matthew is a vocal coach at the Royal Academy of Music, and was recently made an associate there (ARAM). Matthew studied at the Royal Academy of Music, with Michael Dussek and Pascal Nemirovsky. He holds a double 1st class degree in music from Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, where he was organ scholar.
